Overview
Whether you want to modify "My First Project" or deploy it to Player or the web, you must first download it into Composer.
However, what you download is not your project - yet. Think of it as a project loaned to you by another Intuiface account. You need to create a personal copy. Once done, you can edit and deploy that copy to your heart's content.
Downloading "My First Project" into Composer
Whenever you launch Composer, the first thing you will see is the Experiences panel. (If Composer is already running, you can open the Experiences panel using the menu option File -> Show Experiences panel.)
- In the Experiences panel, select the Examples tab if it isn't selected already.
- The first project on this tab, when ordered by "Popularity", is "My First Project". Hover your mouse over the thumbnail for this experience and click the "Download" button.
Pretty simple - but you're not done yet.
Saving an editable copy of "My First Project" for your personal use
The experience you just downloaded into Composer is read-only. This is because you've opened a project created by another Intuiface account, and you have not been granted write privileges for it. You can verify this fact by looking all the way at the top of Composer:
Let's create a copy of this project that you can save to your own Intuiface account.
- In Composer, select the menu option File -> Save As... and give the project copy a name. (The choice is yours, but it's probably simplest to keep some variation of "My First Project".) When you're happy with the name, click the OK button.
- The following pop-up will appear:
The original project you downloaded uses a Headless CMS base over which you have no editing rights. (This base has the same name as the project - "My First Project".) By clicking the "Duplicate" button, you will create a copy of the base in your own Intuiface account, enabling you to make any changes you'd like.
Click the button "Duplicate".
You've just created a personal copy of the experience and a personal copy of the Headless CMS base. Time to get to work!
Finding your copy of "My First Project" after closing Composer
If you ever close Composer and restart it, you'll find your copy of "My First Project" on the "My Experiences" tab of Composer's Experiences panel. Just click the thumbnail for this project, and it will open.
(In the image below, we named the project copy "My First Project - Personal Copy". You may have chosen a different name.)
