Overview
As an alternative to deploying experiences to Intuiface Player, experiences can be deployed to the web. These web deployments can run in browsers on multiple operating systems - Windows, Android, iOS, MacOS, Linux, and Chrome OS - and can be accessed anywhere in the world.
There are two licensing options for web deployments.
- Views licensing: Used when you have an audience of an unknown size and, thus, an unknown number of devices. The idea of Views licensing is typical for any website, which, among other things, means it always needs a live network connection.
- Player licensing: Used when you have a known audience on a known set of devices. Player licensing is particularly useful when you want the deployed experience to run offline.
In this exercise, we will deploy to the web using Views licensing.
NOTE: Trial accounts have 1000 views for the duration of their trial. A view is counted every time an experience is loaded in a browser tab and every multiple of 20 minutes while the experience's browser tab remains open.
Remotely deploy "My First Project" to Player
Publish your experience in Composer
We must now publish your experience in Composer. To "publish" an experience is to place a copy of that experience in the cloud. It is in the cloud that you manage remote deployment.
If you've already published a version of your experience and want to deploy it, 1) go the Share and Deploy Console, 2) click your experience to open the Experience Details panel, 3) return to this article and jump down to the next section.
- View your project in Composer.
- Select the File menu option "Publish to share or deploy"
- If this is the first time you've published an experience, you will see the following pop-up. If so, click "Yes, go ahead".
- When the publishing process completes, the Experience Details page for your experience will be opened in your web browser.
If you've never published an experience before, you must first dismiss the following pop-up by clicking the "I got it" button.
Deploy your experience to the web
Let's deploy your experience to the web using Views licensing.
- Select the "Deploy as webpage" tab.
- Select the "Use Views Licensing" tab.
- Click the "Create URL" button at the bottom of the "Use Views Licensing" tab.
- You should now see the "Webpage settings" pop-up. You don't actually need to change any of these settings. You could accept all default values and use the URL as presented to you here. For this exercise, let's create a more user-friendly URL.
Change the "Slug" value to something memorable. This change will update the URL once you save it. - Look at the "Experience URL" table at the bottom of the "Use Views Licensing" tab. You should see the URL you've just created.
Copy that URL and paste it into your favorite web browser.
Did your experience load in the web browser? Nicely done. How cool are you?
Experiences can have an unlimited number of URLs, so feel free to experiment.
