Overview
With an Internet connection present, data points generated by a running experience are automatically sent to the Intuiface Analytics Data Hub.
Without an Internet connection, data points are stored locally - on the device running Composer, Player, or Player Classic - until an Internet connection is re-established.
How It Works in Player
Whenever the Data Tracking Interface Asset is present in an experience, Composer's "Player" Play Mode and Player will store data points in a local, encrypted database. Every 30 seconds, collected data points are forwarded to the Intuiface Analytics Data Hub over an SSL connection.
If no Internet connection is present, Player continues to store data points in the local database.
If, at any time, an Internet connection is established while Player is running, Player will note the reconnection and forward data points to the Hub.
For web-deployed experiences:
-
Player-licensed web deployments
- Works just like an in-venue Player. See above.
-
Views-licensed web deployments
- Collected data points are uploaded every 3 (three) seconds.
- On offline devices, data points are only retained as long as the experience tab remains open in a browser
How It Works in Player Classic
Exclusively for Player Classic:
Whenever the Data Tracking Interface Asset is present in an experience, both Composer's "Player Classic" Play Mode and Player Classic will launch a small process named IntuifaceDataTransfer.
IntuifaceDataTransfer collects all data points generated by a running experience and stores them in a temporary, encrypted binary file located in the folder C:\ProgramData\IntuiLab\Intuiface\Analytics
. Every 60 seconds, collected data points are forwarded to the Intuiface Analytics Data Hub over an SSL connection.
If no Internet connection is present, IntuifaceDataTransfer continues to store data points in the encrypted binary file. Multiple files are created to minimize the individual size of any one file.
If, at any time, an Internet connection is established while Composer or Player is running, IntuifaceDataTransfer will note the reconnection and forward data points to the Hub.
Transferring Cached Data Points if Composer/Player Classic Are Not Running
It is possible to initiate the transfer of data points to the Intuiface Data Tracking Hub without running Composer's "Player Classic" Play Mode or Player Classic. To do so:
[by definition, this procedure assumes Composer and/or Player Classic are not running]
-
Launch the executable IntuifaceDataTransfer.exe located in one of the following folders
C:\Program Files\IntuiLab\Intuiface\Player
C:\Users\{userName}\AppData\Local\IntuiLab\Intuiface\Composer
-
Click the Create IFL files button and choose where you want the logs to be stored.
This process places the binary files into a transfer-ready format. -
Once the PC is online - if not already - click the Transfer data points button.
This will initiate the transfer process. After the transfer, ifl files are deleted.
Disk Full and Offline Storage of Data Points
If a device runs out of disk space and that device is offline, Intuiface will lose its ability to store additional data points.
