Overview
When a finger touches and is then dragged across the screen, both the touch hardware and Intuiface are tracking where the finger is located. This position is then translated by Intuiface into the movement of affected onscreen content.
The more frequently this tracking occurs, the smoother the movement of affected objects as their position will be updated more frequently as well. Imagine, for example, an image position updating 50 times per second instead of just twice each second. In the latter case, the distance moved
Intuiface Player on Windows permits the configuration of a touch input frequency.
Intuiface's touch input frequency
Intuiface Player on Windows defaults to a touch recognition frequency of 120Hz - that is, 120 times per second. (This default frequency was increased from 60Hz with the release of Intuiface Version 6.6.1 on 28-Sep-2020.)
Changing the touch input frequency
At any point, while an experience is running in Player on Windows, a press of the F1 key on a physical keyboard will cause the display of the configuration screen for touch input frequency.
When to change the touch input frequency
- Choose a lower touch input frequency
Do this when the underlying CPU, the underlying touch hardware, or both are incapable of supporting the default frequency. If either is underpowered, onscreen objects won't respond to touch events. Choose the highest possible frequency that can be supported. - Choose a higher touch input frequency
Do this when the underlying CPU and the underlying touch hardware are equally capable of supporting a higher frequency. If you choose a frequency that is too high, onscreen objects won't properly respond to touch.
