Description
This article explains the steps needed to create a transparent WebM video using Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro, which, once rendered, can be used within any Intuiface experience.
NOTE: This article focuses on Adobe tools, but Intuiface supports transparent WebM videos created using any third-party software. Feel free to use the software of your choice.
Adobe After Effects
Step 1: Install the WebM Plugin via Creative Cloud
- Open Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App
- Go to the Marketplace (Stock & Marketplace tab)
- Search for
WebM - Locate "WebM by Fnord" and click Install
- Restart After Effects and Media Encoder if they were running

Step 2: Import Your Content into After Effects
- Launch After Effects or Premiere
- Go to
File > New > New Composition - Import your content and drag it into the timeline
Step 3: Make the Background Transparent in After Effects
- Open the Effects & Presets panel
- Search for
Keylight (1.2)and drag it onto your footage - Use the eyedropper to select the background colour (e.g., green screen)
Step 4: Export to Media Encoder
- Go to
File > Export > Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue - Adobe Media Encoder will launch with your comp added to the queue
Step 5: Configure WebM Settings
- Click the Format dropdown next to your comp
- Choose
WebM(requires the plugin) - In the WebM export settings:
- Set Video Codec to
VP9 - Enable Include Alpha Channel
- Set Video Codec to
- Choose your output location and filename
Adobe Premiere Pro
Step 1: Install the WebM Plugin via Creative Cloud
- Open Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App
- Go to the Marketplace (Stock & Marketplace tab)
- Search for
WebM - Locate "WebM by Fnord" and click Install
- Restart Premiere Pro and Media Encoder if they were running

- Launch After Effects or Premiere
- Go to
File > New > Project - Import your content and drag it into the timeline
Step 3: Make the Background Transparent in Premiere Pro
- Open the Effects panel
- Search for
Ultra Keyand drag it onto your footage - Use the eyedropper to select the background colour (e.g., green screen)
Step 4: Export to Media Encoder
- Go to
File > Export > Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue - Adobe Media Encoder will launch with your comp added to the queue
Step 5: Configure WebM Settings
- Click the Format dropdown next to your comp
- Choose
WebM(requires the plugin) - In the WebM export settings:

- Choose your output location and filename
