Managed Roll-Out
Player Next Gen is currently in beta. This means it does not yet possess all the capabilities of our current-gen Player. As a result, we are controlling Player Next Gen's availability to ensure users are aware of the limitations. Anyone comfortable with those limitations will be granted access.
Ultimately, Player Next Gen will replace all current-gen Player technologies, becoming the only option we provide across all platforms.
Requesting Access
If you would like access, contact your Sales Rep with the request. The two of you will have a short talk to ensure you're aware of any remaining limitations (a list that gets shorter by the week), and then you will be granted access.
Using Player Next Gen
In Composer
A new option for Composer's Play Mode will appear. (The version number will continually change; what you see below is just one example.) Use this option to test your work as you edit it.
Successful playback indicates that your experience will likely run on all Player Next Gen-supported platforms, including web deployments. HOWEVER, you should still test your experience on the target device or in the target browser. There may be differences between what happens in Composer's Play Mode on a Windows PC (since Composer only runs on Windows) vs. what happens in the target environment.
As Player on Android, BrightSign, Samsung Tizen, Raspberry PI
Your Sales Rep will provide you with instructions for installing Player Next Gen. Use of Player Next Gen is identical to how you use the current generation of Player.
NOTE:
- BrightSign: Must be Version 8.5+. Older versions should use the current generation Player.
- Samsung Tizen: Must be Version 6.5+. Older versions should use the current generation Player.
As Player on Windows, iOS, Chrome OS
Player Next Gen cannot yet be installed directly on these platforms. However, specific to Windows and iOS, Intuiface experiences can be installed as Progressive Web Apps.
Progressive Web Apps can run stand-alone, outside of a browser. They will have Player Next Gen limitations and will not support remote deployment, but the result may still be more than adequate as an alternative to installing Player Next Gen.
NOTE: The current-gen Player for Windows continues to be the most feature-complete Player in the Intuiface portfolio. For iOS and Chrome OS, you can use the current-gen Player until we introduce Player Next Gen support.
