Overview
Intuiface 7 licensing is an evolution from previous approaches, benefitting from both customer feedback and a never-ending desire to simplify. This article breaks down how Intuiface 7 licenses are organized and packaged to help you determine what is best for your needs.
Software evaluation will be possible through the use of a 28-day trial, which permits access to all features, including all of the Intuiface Cloud. The associated trial licenses are not discussed below.
Licensed Components
Intuiface Platform
All paid Intuiface accounts must be in possession of a Platform plan. Individual Composer and Player licenses cannot be purchased before a Platform plan is either in the same shopping cart or has already been purchased.
The Intuiface Platform bundles three components (each described later in this article):
- Intuiface Cloud
- 1 x Composer license
- 1 x Player license
Three Platform plans are available
- Essential (annual only)
- Premier (annual only)
- Enterprise (annual or month-to-month)
Platform Enterprise accounts are entitled to all features of the Intuiface Cloud. Platform Essential and Platform Premier accounts are entitled to a subset of those features. (Click image to enlarge.)
Composer
- Role: Create experiences
- Licensing: Consumes a Composer license and observes a "concurrent user" model. You need as many licenses as you'll have designers using Composer at the same time.
Remember, all Platform plans include one Composer license. The purchase of additional Composer licenses is only required if a team needs more than one. - Duration: Annual or month-to-month
Player: Deployment Options
In-Venue Player
- Role: Run experiences on any of seven platforms using stand-alone Player software. The only deployment option supporting remote deployment.
- Licensing: Consumes a Player license and observes a "concurrent device" model. You need as many licenses as you'll have devices running experiences at the same time. Moving a license from one device to another requires it to be manually released.
Remember, all Platform plans include one in-venue Player license. The purchase of additional in-venue Player licenses is only required if a team needs more than one. - Duration: Annual or month-to-month
- Multi-year licenses are available for Platform Enterprise accounts.
- Multi-year licenses are granted on a case-by-case basis for Platform Essential and Premier accounts. Contact your Sales Rep for details.
- Options: Includes both interactive and non-interactive Player.
Experience as an App (New)
- Role: Run experiences on a device as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Accessed through a URL and then installed locally, these apps can be offline for up to seven days. They will look and act like any other locally installed app.
- Licensing: Consumes the same Player license used for In-Venue Player and observes a "concurrent running" model. You need as many Player licenses as you'll have apps running at the same time. Licenses are automatically retrieved and released as apps are run and closed (with the exception of offline devices, on which licenses cannot be released).
- Duration: Annual only.
Experience on the Web (New)
- Role: Run experiences on a webpage. Intended for non-venue usage, typically personal mobile devices and desktops. Experiences on the web will require a refresh if not used over the course of 20 minutes.
- Licensing: Consumes a views-based license. A "view" occurs every time an experience is displayed in a browser. You pay for the volume of views you anticipate will occur over the course of each month.
- Duration: Annual only.
Intuiface Cloud
Represents all cloud-hosted capabilities offered by Intuiface. There is no Intuiface Cloud license. Rather, your choice of Intuiface Platform (which Intuiface Cloud is part of) will typically determine the percentage of Cloud capability you are entitled to use.
- Analytics
-
- Role: Define, collect, visualize, and share the data that feed business and operational insight. Learn everything from average dwell time and usage count for specific locations to most popular items by context like gender, season, or promotion.
- Licensing: Data point limit is determined by the number of Players and varies by Platform tier: 2k/Player for Essential, 10k/Player for Premier, 30k/Player for Enterprise. For example, a Platform Premier account with 10 Players has a limit of 100k data points. (That's an account limit; Players do not have their own individual limits.) Once the limit is reached, the oldest points are removed as new points are added.
- Duration: Inherits the length of the Platform license.
-
- Headless CMS (launching with Intuiface 7)
-
- Role: Cloud-hosted repository enabling Content Managers to define, store, and manage the data and information consumed by Intuiface deployments anywhere in the world. The same content "base" can be applied to multiple, visually distinct deployments, enabling Content Managers to just focus on data.
- Licensing: Number of users per base varies by Platform tier: two (2) for Essential, five (5) for Premier, Unlimited for Enterprise. One user is always the admin, other users can be granted rights limiting which aspects of a base can be changed.
- Duration: Inherits the length of the Platform license.
-
- Remote Deployment with Device Monitoring and Player Management
-
- Role: Cloud-hosted capability enabling teams to push experiences onto - and play those experiences on - any devices running Player, visualize currently running experience for each Player, receive email updates if devices go offline, remotely restart Player on Windows PCs, remotely reboot Windows PCs
- Licensing: Exclusive to the Platform Enterprise tier.
- Duration: Inherits the length of the Platform license.
-
- Account Management: License, Billing, and Credential Key Management
-
- Role: Search invoices, store credit cards, track licenses across devices. Credential keys enable the account-specific use of various Intuiface services like Web Triggers.
- Licensing: Licensing and billing are available to all Platform tiers. Each Intuiface service accessed via credential key has its own associated list of supported Platform tiers.
- Duration: Inherits the length of the Platform license.

Acquiring additional Composer and deployment licenses
As noted in the image above, your Platform plan determines the number of additional Composer licenses and the number and type of deployment licenses you can purchase.
- Platform Essential
- Composer: Max of one (1) Composer license. With one Composer bundled in the Platform plan, no additional Composer licenses can be purchased.
- Deployment
- In-Venue Player: Limit to two (2) licenses. With one Player bundled in the Platform plan, only one additional Player license can be purchased.
- App: Not offered; Platform Enterprise only
- Web: Not offered; Platform Enterprise only
- Platform Premier
- Composer: No limit to the number of licenses that can be purchased.
- Deployment
- In-Venue Player: No limit to the number of licenses that can be purchased.
- App: Not offered; Platform Enterprise only
- Web: Not offered; Platform Enterprise only
- Platform Enterprise
- Composer: No limit to the number of licenses that can be purchased.
- Deployment
- In-Venue Player: No limit to the number of licenses that can be purchased.
- App: No limit to the number of licenses that can be purchased.
- Web: No limit to the number of views that can be purchased.
Platform Subscription Alignment Policy
With rare exceptions, neither Composer nor Player licenses can have a renewal/expiration date later than the account's Platform renewal/expiration date.
As a result, purchases of additional Composer or Player licenses will likely require an extension of the Platform subscription to align with the renewal date of the latest Composer or Player purchase. This extension of the Platform would be mandatory.
Main exception: Migrated Intuiface 6 multi-year Players will not require Platform alignment upon migration. These multi-year licenses will renew annually and will continue to be exempt from Platform subscription alignment. However, if at any point these migrated licenses are extended - see the next section - or a new license purchased, then Platform alignment will be required.
Subscription Extension Option
Exclusive to Enterprise accounts, the renewal date of the Platform - or of Composer/deployment licenses renewing before the Platform - can be extended for any number of days greater than 90 days.
With this ability, Intuiface accounts can align renewal dates across any set of existing licenses. In fact, with every purchase of additional Composer or deployment licenses, you have the option to extend any portion of existing subscriptions to achieve renewal alignment.
Subscription extension can also be applied to new licenses in a shopping cart, enabling the conversion of annual licenses into licenses renewing at a later date, a length of time that could be - but doesn't have to be - additional years.
Of course, because of the Platform subscription alignment policy, if you wish to extend Composer and/or deployment licenses beyond the Platform renewal date, you will have to extend the Platform renewal date as well.
Platform Plan Upgrade and Downgrade
- Platform Plan Upgrade
A Platform subscription can be upgraded to a higher plan tier at any time. The upgrade extends the entire Platform renewal date by an additional year from the day of the upgrade.
The cost of the upgrade would be the cost of the new Platform plan minus the prorated value of the subscription remaining for the original Platform. - Platform Plan Downgrade
There is no formal process for downgrading a Platform plan subscription to a lower tier. Rather, allow the existing Platform subscription to expire, then purchase a new Platform license for the lower plan. In parallel, notify your Sales Rep as the downgrade can result in a loss of storage capacity for certain features (e.g. Headless CMS) which will require some manual adjustment.
Academic Discount
Qualifying academic institutions are entitled to purchase an annual Platform Premier subscription at a 75% discount. All other licenses are sold at list price.
Institutions qualifying for the academic discount: 1) accredited primary or secondary schools with full-time instruction, 2) accredited public or private universities and colleges granting degrees requiring at least two years of study, and 3) teaching hospitals.
Hibernate Plan
To ensure an Intuiface account's experiences, Analytics data points, Headless CMS bases, and more remain in Intuiface storage following the expiration of a Platform subscription, Intuiface offers a Hibernate plan. This optional plan protects account data and meta-data from removal off Intuiface servers and maintain an account's access to online resources like the User Community and Intuiface Academy.
See our article about the Hibernate plan for details.
Add-Ons
Additional Data Point Storage for Analytics
Each Platform plan tier is entitled to store a predefined number of data points for the Analytics feature. Once the max number of stored points for an account is reached, the earliest collected data points will be removed (aka first in, first out) as new data points come in.
The data point limit is determined by multiplying the number of Players in an account by the values listed below.
- Platform Essential: 2k data points per Player
- Platform Premier: 10k data points per Player
- Platform Enterprise: 30k data points per Player
For example, a Platform Essential account with 10 Players will have a limit of 20k data points. There is no individual Player limit, just an overall account limit.
Additional data point storage can be purchased in packs of 250k data points. Multiple packs can be purchased.
Premium Support
Accounts across all Platform plan tiers are entitled to communicate with Intuiface Technical Support through an online help desk with no response time longer than one business day.
Premium Support can be purchased by an account to expand technical support entitlement. It includes:
- 2-hour response time within Tech Support operating hours
- 4 hours of live expert consulting per year
- Live chat with Tech Support
- Screen sharing for troubleshooting
- Delivery of Support-modified experiences containing corrections to submitted issues
