Introduction
All analytic information is stored in a cloud-hosted database managed by Intuiface. Logged events can be retrieved from this database for offline analysis in one of two ways:
- (all Intuiface accounts) Downloading an Excel spreadsheet using Management Console, OR
- (only accounts with at least one Composer Enterprise license) Running a custom HTML query to generate an XML response
This article discusses the first option. For the second option, see our article about how to run a custom query.
Downloading Data to an Excel spreadsheet
Intuiface Management Console enables users to retrieve analytic data in the form of an Excel spreadsheet.
- Intuiface accounts with at least one Composer Enterprise license: 365 days worth of data
- Composer Free and Composer Pro accounts: 1 days worth of data
NOTE: Analytic records are buffered in memory and sent every 30 seconds to the Intuiface server - so wait at least 30 seconds before downloading data..
If you possess only Composer Free and/or Composer Pro licenses
You are entitled to data collected over the past 24 hours. This data is an aggregation of all log events generated across all Players - and Composers in Play Mode - regardless of geographic location.
- Open Management Console.
- At the bottom of the page, click the link Download data for the last 24 hours.
- A new page opens. Configure your data filter.
- Click the Download Analytics button.
If you possess at least one Composer Enterprise license
You are entitled to data collected over the past 365 days. This data is an aggregation of all log events generated across all Players - and Composers in Play Mode - regardless of geographic location.
- Open Management Console.
- At the bottom of the page, either
- Select an individual device to access log information for that device, OR
- Click the Analytics button
- If you selected an individual device
- In the Device Information panel that opens, click the Download button in the Analytics section.
- In the Device Information panel that opens, click the Download button in the Analytics section.
- If you selected the Analytics button
- A new page opens. Configure your data filter.
- Click the Download Analytics button
- A new page opens. Configure your data filter.
NOTE : Due to an Excel limit, if the number of records is greater than 65,535, the "Download Analytics" button will be disabled and an information message will be displayed. To proceed you have three options:
- Modify filters to get below the 65,535 limit
- Delete unnecessary records
OR - Use a custom query for non-Excel use.(Only available for Enterprise Edition license holders).
Customizing the data filter
Prior to downloading (or deleting) analytics data, filters can be applied. Used together, these filters enable you to focus on very specific analytic records before downloading to Excel.
- Filter by date
By default, the From field is set to the very first day available in the database and To is set to the very last day. Change these dates to narrow your focus. Use the locks to retain either (or both) date selection should you decide to modify the device or application scope of your filter. If unlocked, the From and To dates will always default to the earliest and/or latest dates available for the specified device(s) and applications.
NOTE: Composer Free and Pro Edition users only have access to the last 24 hours of collected data. This means the From and To fields are limited to the days experienced over that same 24 hours. - Filter by device
Choose between all devices and a specific device. The device list is alphabetized. - Filter by application
Choose from with Intuiface applications you would like to focus on. For example, you may want to deselect Composer to avoid downloading test analytics generated while building your experience.
Structure of Log Data
Every logged action - through use of the Report interaction action - is stored as a "record" with additional information to facilitate fine-tuned filtering of data.
Each record contains the following information. Starred items are automatically filled out.
- *Timestamp: The time at which the logged event occurred. Time is measured in UTC, which means all events from all devices can be ordered chronologically even if those devices are located in different time zones.
- *Device Name: Name of the device on which the experience was running.
- *Application: Version of Player used to run the experience.
- *OS: Operating system on the device.
- *Experience Name
- *Scene Name
