Accessing the Properties panel
Assets have a set of modifiable properties that define how they look and behave. These properties are listed in the Properties panel - accessible via any of four methods:
- Left clicking any item in the scene then
- clicking the Properties icon in the upper right of Composer:
- pressing the F4 button on your keyboard
- pressing the icon - or pressing Ctrl+Q on your keyboard - to open the Quick Properties pop-up.
- Right-clicking any item in the scene and selecting the pop-up menu item Show properties.
Some properties are common to most assets while other properties are asset specific. See the dedicated asset pages for details about asset-specific properties.
Common Property Categories
General
The properties visible at the top of the Properties panel and in the Quick Properties pop-up minimally define the name, content and position of the selected asset in the current space.
- The Copy Painter tool, located at the very top of the panel. Select an asset in the active scene then click the left Copy Painter button. Now select a new asset in the scene and click the right Copy Painter button. You have just copied all common property values from the first item to the second.
- [Name] the identifier of the asset. This property is not labeled; it is represented by the editable text box just to the right of the asset icon. This identifier will appear in the Scene Structure panel.
- [Visibility] toggles whether or not the asset is visible. This property is not labeled; it is represented by the eye icon. Items that are not visible will not react to touch but can still respond to actions.
- [Asset Type] (for assets only) the media assigned to the asset. The label for this property matches the asset type. Possible values will be those found in the Content Library.
- X the X coordinate of the center point of the asset
- Y the Y coordinate of the center point of the asset
- W the width of the asset
- H the height of the asset
- the rotation of the asset
NOTE: Position, size and orientation can also be modified through direct manipulation of an asset within the scene. Options include:
- dragging the asset to a new location
- dragging any of the square handles along the selected asset bounding box to change the dimensions of the asset
- dragging the round handle on the edge of the selected asset bounding box to rotate the asset.
Appearance
Most Appearance properties are asset specific so be sure to refer to the dedicated article for each asset.
- Fill Behavior
Only available for the Image asset, Video asset, Webcam asset, the Image Button and a scene background when set to an image or video.- Fill behavior specify how you want the content to be displayed within its container. You have three choices.
- Fit: The container will always display the entire content, no matter how the container is resized.
- Fill: The content will be resized so it fills the entire container. When resized, the content will be cut off along one axis if necessary.
- Deform: The content is forced to match the pixel width and length of the container. The result can deform the content.
- Fit: The container will always display the entire content, no matter how the container is resized.
- Fill behavior specify how you want the content to be displayed within its container. You have three choices.
- Effects
- Opacity: sets the level of transparency for this asset on a scale of 0 (invisible) to 1 (opaque)
- Effects: a set of appearance options impacting the color and clarity of the asset
- Blur: sets clarity on a scale of 0 (no blur) to 100 (completely blurred)
- Grayscale forces color shift into gray tones on a scale from 0 (no shift at all) to 100 (complete shift into gray spectrum)
- Sepia forces color shift into sepia tones on a scale from 0 (no shift at all) to 100 (complete shift into sepia spectrum)
- Hue rotation Applies a hue rotation to the input image. The passed parameter defines the number of degrees around the color circle the input samples will be incremented. Values of 0 and 360 are equivalent - they leave the input unchanged.
- Brightness Applies a linear multiplier to the input image, making it appear more or less bright. A value of 0 will create an image that is completely black. A value of 100 leaves the input unchanged. Other values are linear multipliers on the effect; the larger the number, the brighter the results. At a value of 1000, all colors (other than black) appear white.
Behavior
Behavior properties are asset-specific, be sure to refer to their corresponding Help Center articles.
Container Behavior
Container Behavior properties configure the bounding box within which the asset media is displayed. Here are their properties:
- Container identifies the type of container. There are three possible values.
- Static: the user cannot move the asset. This is the default state of an asset.
- Free: the user can move/resize/rotate the asset but cannot pin it in a fixed position
- Pinnable: the user can toggle between the Free and Static states
- If the Container property is set to Static, one additional property is revealed:
- Visible to interactivity toggles whether or not this asset will respond to touch. If deselected, assets and containers below it can respond to touch.
- If the Container property is set to Free or Pinnable, additional properties are revealed:
- Initial view
- Initial view state choose whether the asset should initial appear in its normal, minimized or maximized state.
- Display buttons
- Show maximize button adds a maximize button to the asset container
- Show minimize button adds a minimize button to the asset container
- Show close button adds a close button to the asset container
- Display buttons style if any of the Display buttons are turned on, a set of Display button style options are revealed
- Use experience style toggle whether this asset should adopt the preset project style. If unchecked, the following properties appear:
- Fill color color surrounding image assigned to the button
- Outline color color along the edge of the region containing the image assigned to the button
- Pressed color fill color when the button is touched
- Checked color alternative color to fill color if the button represents two possible states
- Radius curvature of edge surrounding region containing the button. Can have value from 0 to 20. Set to 0 for a square, set to 20 for a perfect circle.
- Flat toggles whether or not the buttons should look flat or have a sense of depth
- Shadow toggles whether or not the buttons should have a shadow
- [Icons] images to use for various states of each Display button
- Maximize / Unmaximize
- Minimize
- Close
- Use experience style toggle whether this asset should adopt the preset project style. If unchecked, the following properties appear:
- Constraints constraints determine the extent to which an asset can be manipulated
- Allow move check if asset container can be moved
- Move direction specify in which direction the item can be moved. This property is only visible if Allow move is enabled.
- Allow rotate permit the user to rotate the asset through 360 degrees
- Allow resize permit the user to resize the asset using two or more fingers
- Minimum width sets minimum possible width in pixels to which an asset container can be resized
- Minimum height sets minimum possible height in pixels to which the asset container can be resized
- Maximum width sets maximum possible width in pixels to which an asset container can be resized
- Maximum height sets maximum possible height in pixels to which an asset container can be resized
- Minimize behavior configure and constrain how minimize will work
- Minimized image select the image to display when this asset is minimized. If no image is specified, the following image is used:
- Minimized pressed image select the image to display when the Minimized image is pressed. If no image is specified, the Minimized image will be used.
- Allow move when minimized check if the Minimized image can be moved
- Minimized position specify where to put the Minimized image
- Minimize to current position minimize to last location of the asset when in a Normal state
- Minimize to initial position minimize to last location of the Minimized image
- Minimized width width in pixels of the Minimized image
- Minimized height height in pixels of the Minimized image
- Minimized orientation rotation in degrees of the Minimized image
- Initial view
Tools
The Image, Video, Document and Audio assets share these Tools properties:
- Sharing tool
- Show sharing button check if this asset can be added to the sharing queue
- Asset sharing options: as email attachment, to USB memory key or to local filesystem.
- Tools buttons style: if Show sharing button is checked, the Use experience style property appears
- Sharing / Selected sharing images to use when the asset could be added to the sharing queue ("sharing") or is already added to the sharing queue ("selected sharing")
- Use experience style toggle whether this asset should adopt the preset project style. If unchecked, the following properties appear:
- Show sharing button check if this asset can be added to the sharing queue

Must update this page -- Common Asset Properties -- to add some verbiage and links describing the *changes* to Container Behavior properties when grouped !

Container Behavior
Container Behavior properties configure the bounding box within which the asset media is displayed. Here are their properties:
CONTAINER [PROPERTY] identifies the type of container. There are three possible values.

EXCEPT -- when a Container becomes a member of a Group, then the CONTAINER [PROPERTY] possible values *change*. Static, Free, or Pinnable are no longer options. Instead, the choices become:
(Once an individual asset has been incorporated into a group, its Container property inherits new possible values. )
